Tokenization is the process of turning some piece of data, asset, or a digital representation of a physical item into a token that can be transferred or stored on a blockchain network.
Tokenization allows you to use or track non‐blockchain‐based items on a blockchain, or within a blockchain‐based application.
For example, an NFT is the tokenized representation on a blockchain of the ownership of a non‐fungible item, such as a designer watch or digital artwork. The tokenized representation of ownership can be verified on the blockchain, sold on a blockchain‐based application, or used as collateral on a decentralized lending platform.
