Bison Trails (https://bisontrails.co/), the leading blockchain infrastructure platform-as-a-service company, announced a collaboration with Volt Capital to enable secure staking on the Celo Network, a mobile-first Proof-of-Stake (PoS) blockchain network. Volt Capital is an early-stage venture firm that recently unveiled a $10M fund to invest in crypto end user services, infrastructure, and open finance.
TD Labs, a subsidiary of Volt Capital, has been involved in the Celo Network since testnet and its validator has roughly four million votes to participate on the Celo Network. As part of the collaboration, Bison Trails will run the Celo validator node for Volt Capital, allowing the Volt Capital community to stake CELO, earn participatory rewards, and support the growth of the network. Bison Trails’ node infrastructure enables delegators to stake easily and is built to the highest security and reliability standards.
“Bison Trails is committed to the growth of the crypto ecosystem and innovative networks like Celo,” said Joe Lallouz, CEO of Bison Trails. “We’re excited to work with Volt Capital to further that mission by providing a seamless, secure staking experience on the Celo network for their community.”
Celo is an open-source platform that makes financial tools accessible to anyone with a mobile phone. The novel proof-of-stake network is ultralight and features the built-in capability for supporting stablecoins such as Celo Dollars (cUSD) and Celo Euros (cEUR), which opens up use cases for decentralized personal payments applications. Currently, there are thousands of organizations and individuals developing, growing, and governing Celo. The network is powered by CELO, a utility and governance asset for the Celo community, which has a fixed supply and variable value. With CELO, users can contribute to the governance and future of the Celo network.
“We’re thrilled to be working with Bison Trails to offer our community the ability to stake Celo. Bison Trails’ robust infrastructure meets our high benchmark for security, reliability, and uptime, and the team brings invaluable protocol expertise and insights,” said Mohamed Fouda, Partner at Volt Capital. “The Celo community has been steadily growing, and we have been actively working with projects that are developing simple tools to enable better financial engagement with Celo to deliver the long-term vision of the project. Having the right infrastructure provider is key to helping innovative networks like Celo grow, scale, and attract participants securely. We look forward to continuing to work with Bison Trails, and expanding our collaboration to other networks.”
“At Volt Capital, we are committed to supporting innovative projects - and the networks that power them - to accelerate the adoption of crypto and realize its potential for broadening access to financial services,” said Soona Amhaz, Founding Partner at Volt Capital. “Solid infrastructure is critical to help these innovative projects and networks grow - that is why we are partnered with Bison Trails.”
At the time of the announcement, Volt Capital’s TD Labs validator is live and accepting votes/delegations. Readers who are interested in exploring TD Labs’s Celo validator can visit here or search for their group address:
If you are already voting for the TD Labs validator, no action is needed. Celo is designed so that your vote goes to the group, not to an individual validator, enabling us to swap the underlying infrastructure seamlessly.
The Celo protocol enables voters to earn up to 6% annual reward if they vote for an elected group that has good uptime. In the near future, Volt Labs plans to collaborate with Bison Trails to support staking infrastructure for other innovative protocols.
Bison Trails is a blockchain infrastructure platform-as-a-service (PaaS) company based in New York City. We built a platform for anyone who wants to participate in 23 new chains effortlessly.
We also make it easy for anyone building Web 3.0 applications to connect to blockchain data from 33 protocols with Query & Transact (QT). Our goal is for the entire blockchain ecosystem to flourish by providing robust infrastructure for the pioneers of tomorrow.
In January, 2021, we announced Bison Trails joined Coinbase to accelerate our mission to provide easy-to-use blockchain infrastructure, now as a standalone product line. The Bison Trails platform will continue to support our customers. With Coinbase’s backing, we will enhance our infrastructure platform and make it even easier to participate in decentralized networks and build applications that connect to blockchain data.
